Synopsis: Archer and Hieronymus make their way out of the Nest while Magmouskain and party make their way to the Third Gate. The parties meet up again only to be attacked by draekken. Hieronymus summons an ofnejinn to defend them as everyone makes their escape across the great bridge. (~3479 words)

Book update: Only 5 more chapters to completion and the final one, which brings Alethea back into the story is already written. Currently, the PDF contains 97,700 words and 372 pages should you want to print it out. Book #2 is already partially plotted, enough that I can jump into the first few chapters without pause.
Publishing plan (subject to change, natch): Right now the long term goal is to publish both books #1 and #2 in the fall of 2012. Why so long? Well, there’s still a lot of things to do. The goal is to publish books #1 and #2 as close together as possible, mainly to take advantage of people’s tendency to want to finish stories. Then, within 3 months after book #2, publish book #3 to complete the story. Lots of rewriting, editing, and other miscellaneous tasks to do between now and then.
As you can guess there are a lot of unknowns in there. Can I maintain the same writing pace set in book #1 for the next year and beyond? I learned so much writing this first book that the final chapters read much better then the starting ones. Hopefully the trend continues in book #2. Does the re-editing take longer than planned? Also, I’ll be starting with a new employer in October, which means there will be some changes but hopefully nothing that will disrupt the schedule. Won’t know until we get there though.
Between now and then I hope to also write and release a short story about every month to continue growing my publishing portfolio before the novels hit the virtual shelf. The first short story was released earlier this week, The Missing Wizard, and available for reading everywhere in ebook format.
