Work Begins on An Empire Embattled

Today is the first day I began writing on Book #2 of the Forgotten Empire Trilogy, called An Empire Embattled. In book #2 we continue to follow Archer and Hieronymus as they try to convince the dwarven kingdom of Dugalduruun that an ancient enemy has returned and bent on the kingdom’s destruction.

If everything goes as planned, I hope to complete this book by March 2012. Lots of activities planned between now and then, a nephew’s wedding, a family reunion over Thanksgiving, starting with a new employer in October. In other words, plenty of distractions to pull me away from writing. Hopefully, this book has been plotted a bit better, so I hope the writing will be smoother as a result, a flow faster as I know where sub-plots stop and start, and know my characters a lot better than I did in book #1. Am sure it won’t be totally smooth, but one can hope for the best. Am still learning how to write fiction and have plenty to learn, so I see no end of fun in the coming months.

Unlike book #1, I won’t be posting each chapter here as I complete it. The results from book #1 were, to put it charitably, mixed. It took a lot of work to make each chapter available and bypassing those actions should free up more time for more writing. Any opinions will be listened to and considered. I will probably post chapter synopsis though to let everyone know how things are going, so watch for those.

So, onward with book #2, should be fun.
