Review: Westerns all Week

It was mainly western book reading week here in casa Austin. Spent the week working my way through Robert B. Parker’s Virgil Cole and Everett Hitch series of Appaloosa, Resolution, Brimstone, Blue-Eyed Devil, and the post-series continuation Ironhorse by author Robert Knott. Was hoping for more dialog expertise as per his Spenser books but the entire style was both different and less scintillating then I expected and the Allie French plot line was just plain irking by book three. Can you say bitch? I knew you could.

Also, Ironhorse just fell flat as a continuation of the series for me. Way too much descriptive text and new knowledge found in characters never before revealed  (Westinghouse brakes), and it just did not have the same look and feel of the previous books.

Also, started again reading I am Not a Serial Killer by Dan Wells, a wonderfully written and spooky tale from within the mind of sociopathic teenager John Cleaver and his home town battle against a real serial killer.

Am also working my way through Blue Remembered Earth by Alastair Reynolds, which I hope to finish soon.
